“100,000 Jobs Mission” Seeks to Place Veterans in Corporate Jobs

The unemployment rate among veterans is staggeringly high and climbing. JP Morgan Chase, along with other corporate partners, is looking to do something about that. Under their "100,000 Jobs Mission," they plan on collectively hiring 100,000 veterans within the next 10 years.

The veterans they plan on hiring will be those leaving active duty. As more corporate partners are added to the initiative, more potential jobs will likely be added to the target amount of jobs to fill.

The nationwide employment rate is 8.9%, currently. For veterans that rate is 9.2%, and 12.5% for those veterans newly separated from the military. The 100,000 Jobs initiative partnership plans on placing 20,000 veterans in jobs by the end of 2012.

Many veterans and military officials have highlighted the difficulty in finding solid and lasting employment following their military service, and the importance in establishing programs to help with the issue. This initiative will benefit both the companies involved, and the veterans. This will go beyond helping just veterans, however, but it will also benefit their families as well.

On the whole, veterans make good employees due to their discipline and principles, according to initiative spokespeople. Stronger employees mean stronger companies, and this initiative is slated to start the hiring process over the next couple of weeks.
