3 Lifestyle Behaviors Contributing to Heart Health Problems in the U.S.

Long-term disability benefits could be available if you have been diagnosed with a severe condition that will require time off from work while you undergo treatment and recovery. An attorney can help you determine if you qualify.

In a report from Health Day, the American Heart Association (AHA) is not giving Americans a good mark on the report card for heart health. In fact, using 7 markers of heart health—exercise, diet, smoking, weight, blood pressure, fasting blood sugar levels and cholesterol—94% of adults have at least 1 risk factor of heart disease.

They also indicate there are 3 lifestyle behaviors greatly contributing to heart health problems in the U.S. including:

  • increased calorie consumption;
  • lack of exercise; and
  • smoking.

With heart disease being the No. 1 killer in the United States, this raises a lot of concerns about the way Americans take care of themselves.

Despite the poor grade for heart health there is some good news. For instance, cardiovascular disease deaths have dropped 31% in the past 10 years. And stroke deaths have dropped almost 35%. However, these improvements are attributed to better treatment and not improved lifestyle behaviors.

If you need legal counsel in order to learn if you qualify for long-term disability benefits, consult with a Broward County long-term disability attorney. An attorney may be able to assist you with your application.

Long-term disability benefits may be available to those who have purchased a disability plan from a private insurer or have coverage through an employer. Unfortunately, the insurers don’t make it easy for the disabled to get access to the benefits they deserve. When a severe medical condition makes it impossible for you to work and you’ve been denied your long-term disability benefits, an attorney from LaVan & Neidenberg, P.A. can help you to cut through the red tape and fight for your benefits, no matter where you live in the U.S! Contact a Broward County long-term disability attorney today – 1-888-234-5758.
