President-elect Barack Obama on Social Security

President Barack Obama proposes the establishment of a National Commission on People with Disabilities, Employment and Social Security. This commission will be staffed by presidential and congressional appointees as well as members of the Social Security Administration and would study how improvements could be made within the current SSI and SSDI programs. Additionally, Obama supports allocating additional funds to the SSA to hire more judges to streamline the Social Security Disability benefits approval process. To fund his proposals, Obama is open to alternative tax funding concepts.

Disability Employment Awareness Month Wraps Up in Florida

A month of seminars, expos and special events ends today.  In Florida and throughout the nation people have come together to highlight the issues surrounding employment of the disabled.

Florida has worked hard to bring to light the issues surrounding employment of the disabled.  Along with park openings and expos intended to help disabled persons find jobs Florida is an active participant in the nationwide Disability Employment Awareness Month.

This issue is dear to our hearts.  At LaVan and Neidenberg we work exclusively with disabled people, helping them to regain the life they once had.  Many people count lost wages and an inability to do the things they love as major losses after being severely injured.  There is hope.
