Abilities Expo in Houston, Texas is Aug. 27-29
The Abilities Expo-taking place this weekend (Aug. 27-29, 2010) in Houston, Texas-will provide opportunities for the disabled to experience a broad view of the types of services and opportunities available to those who cope daily with a debilitating condition. If you are disabled and unable to work, Social Security disability benefits may be available to you and your family.
Now in its 31st year of helping to improve the lives of individuals with disabilities, the Abilities Expo features workshops, products and services, among other things. The event is catered to everyone from children to seniors and provides outreach to those in the disabled community as well as caretakers.
Some of the features of the Abilities Expo include:
- Services and products for a wide range of disabilities;
- Workshops on disability issues;
- Wheelchair activities (obstacle course, line dancing, sports);
- Appearance by celebrities Henry Winkler and Jesse Billauer; and
- Interactive assistive technology.
The Abilities Expo is being held in the Reliant Center from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28; and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29. There is no cost for admission.
