Alzheimer’s Could Be Slowed Down by Treating Other Medical Conditions

If you have been diagnosed with a debilitating disease such as Alzheimer's, Social Security disability benefits may be available for you. These disability benefits can help cover some of your lost income if you become permanently disabled.

According to a report from the New York Times, a new study finds that Alzheimer's could be slowed down by treating other medical conditions. Some of these other conditions include high cholesterol and blood pressure, along with diabetes.

Research indicates that those who have vascular problems are twice as likely to develop Alzheimer's, compared to those without these risks. However, those who had vascular problems but received proper treatment had a 40% less chance of going on to develop Alzheimer's compared to those who were not adequately treated.

Beta-amyloid plaque has been linked to Alzheimer's and it is believed that some of these medical conditions affect the metabolism of this component.

Whether you need help in your initial application for disability benefits or if you have been denied benefits and wish to appeal your claim, you should consult with a Fort Lauderdale Social Security disability attorney.

An attorney can answer all of your questions concerning eligibility and the process of applying for or appealing your claim.
