Anti-Clotting Drug May Lead to Excessive Bleeding

According to a report from Health Day, a new anti-clotting drug, Eliquis, is found to increase the risk of severe bleeding. Anti-clotting drugs can help patients who have atrial fibrillation. This cardiovascular condition can lead to the need for long-term disability benefits.

Not only is Eliquis found to increase the risk of bleeding but it has also been found in a new study to not reduce the risk of stroke or heart attack. This comes after a clinical trial was stopped due to the apparent risks.

Eliquis is a type of antiplatelet therapy, which can be very effective to most patients. There was an expectation of some bleeding, although, when it was combined with another anti-clotting therapy, it became significant.

Researchers indicate that the risks of taking this drug far outweigh the benefits. They further indicate that combination treatment with dual antiplatelet therapy and anticoagulant therapy should be avoided for patients who suffer from atrial fibrillation.

If you have been diagnosed with a severe cardiovascular condition that will require time off from work while you undergo treatment, then you may be eligible to receive long-term disability benefits. For help with your claim or appealing one that has been denied, you should speak with a Miami Gardens long-term disability attorney.

Long-term disability benefits may be available to those who have purchased a disability plan from a private insurer or have coverage through an employer. Unfortunately, the insurers don't make it easy for the disabled to get access to the benefits they deserve.

When a severe medical condition makes it impossible for you to work and you've been denied your long-term disability benefits, an attorney from LaVan & Neidenberg, P.A. can help you cut through the red tape and fight for your benefits, no matter where you live in the U.S! Contact a South Florida disability attorney today - 1-888-234-5758.
