Bone Decay Linked to a Common Treatment for Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer
can leave an individual not only dealing with the physical recovery but the burden of being unable to work and take care of a family. Social Security disability benefits may be available if your disability prevents you from being able to work.

One of the common types of treatment used for prostate cancer is found to be linked to bone decay.
Androgen Deprivation Therapy (ADT) is used by approximately 600,000 patients in the United States. It works by blocking or suppressing male sex hormones, which are a contributing factor to prostate cancer growth.

While ADT has helped many patients, researchers from Australia have linked the use of this therapy to microarchitectural decay, which damages bones.
Advanced CT imaging was used to take "virtual" bone biopsies of the patients included in the study. The study is set to be printed in the December issue of the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism.

If you are suffering with prostate cancer or any other severe type of disability, Social Security disability benefits may be available. Contact a Social Security disability attorney today to discuss your case. They can determine if your condition is severe enough to be eligible for disability benefits.
