Breast Cancer Risk Elevated Past Menopause in Obese Women

According to a report from Health News, the risk of breast cancer is elevated in obese women who are past menopause. Cancer of any type could lead an individual to seek long-term disability benefits while they are recovering and are unable to work.

Cancer risks are increased in those who drink alcohol and smoke; however, new research suggests that women who are obese and are postmenopausal with high levels of estrogen or testosterone, are at an increased risk of breast cancer.

In fact researchers who performed this study from the University of Oxford, indicate that it is quickly becoming the most common risk factor for this particular group of women, even greater than smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol.

The study did not however, address whether or not it was the elevation in sex hormones that caused increased weight or the other way around.

If you have been diagnosed with breast cancer or any other severe health condition that is preventing you from working for an extended period of time, you should seek legal counsel.

An Atlanta long-term disability attorney can evaluate your case to determine if you may qualify to receive disability benefits.
They can also assist you with the complicated paperwork or appealing a claim that has been denied.

Long-term disability benefits may be available to those who have purchased a disability plan from a private insurer or have coverage through an employer. Unfortunately, the insurers don't make it easy for the disabled to get access to the benefits they deserve.

When a severe medical condition makes it impossible for you to work and you've been denied your long-term disability benefits, an attorney from LaVan & Neidenberg, P.A. can help you cut through the red tape and fight for your benefits, no matter where you live in the U.S! Contact a South Florida disability attorney today - 1-888-234-5758.
