After an individual has been diagnosed with cancer there may be a lot of uncertainties about the future, including how they will financially care for their family. If you are unable to work during a long period of time as you go through treatment, you may qualify to receive long-term disability benefits.
In a report from the
Doctor's Lounge,
a new study suggests that brisk walks on a regular basis could potentially reduce the progression and risk of death for prostate cancer patients.
This newest study builds on previous research that has shown those individuals who participate in regular vigorous physical activities lower their risk of death from prostate cancer.
Brisk walking, according to these latest findings, means to walk at least 3 miles per hour.
When done at least 3 times per week these men were found to have a 57% reduced risk of prostate cancer progression and death, in comparison to men who walked a slower pace and fewer times per week. These findings were published in the June 1 issue of
Cancer Research.
