Cancer More Deadly to Men than Women

In a study from the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland, researchers found that men are at a greater risk of developing cancer, have a higher mortality rate, and less chance at a 5-year survival rate.

• bladder; and
• larynx.

Women were found to have higher rates of 5 different types of cancer, which include the following:

• mesentery (part of the peritoneum); and

Although researchers aren't sure why there's such a difference between men and women, some believe that men are exposed to more harmful chemicals, have higher levels of stress, hormone differences, sex differences, and receive less preventative/maintenance health care.
