Claims of Virus Linked to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Have Been Retracted

In a report from Medline Plus, claims of a virus being linked to chronic fatigue syndrome have been retracted. You may qualify for long-term disability benefits if you were diagnosed with a severe medical condition that prevents you from working for an extended amount of time.

Science journal has withdrawn a report from 2009, in which claims that a virus, XMRV, was the cause of chronic fatigue syndrome. They have been unable to replicate these findings and find no reason to believe there is any correlation between them.

Many patients battling chronic fatigue syndrome began taking medication to fight off the virus. It had brought hope to many whose quality of life can be seriously reduced by this condition.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately 1 to 4 million people in the U.S. suffers from chronic fatigue syndrome. Patients experience overwhelming fatigue that isn’t improved despite bed rest. It is also a condition that is worsened with mental or physical activity.

During treatment and recovery of your severe medical condition, you may find it necessary to seek long-term disability benefits. To learn if you qualify or to receive assistance for a claim that has been denied, you should speak with a Ft. Lauderdale disability attorney about your case.

Long-term disability benefits may be available to those who have purchased a disability plan from a private insurer or have coverage through an employer. Unfortunately, the insurers don’t make it easy for the disabled to get access to the benefits they deserve.

When a severe medical condition makes it impossible for you to work and you’ve been denied your long-term disability benefits, an attorney from LaVan & Neidenberg, P.A. can help you cut through the red tape and fight for your benefits, no matter where you live in the U.S!
