Code Bash Used To Help Veterans Return To Civilian Life

October 18, 2010 - Code Bashes are meetings of developers and engineers and are a drive directed at a certain result-a think tank designed to help the military community. The MarkLogic Corporation Warrior Gateway Code Bash allowed MarkLogic to add new features to their Warrior Gateway. The event was attended by MarkLogic employees, partners, and developers.

The military community uses the Warrior Gateway because of its dependable and trustworthy reputation and applications. The Warrior Gateway is a portal, which allows people using it to find applicable service organizations very quickly. Further, users can provide ratings and comments on those providers. Other users, then, can see what type of ratings service providers have before they use that provider.

For veterans cycling back to the US following a deployment, this portal is vital. The easier it is for veterans to return to civilian life, the more momentum and inclination veterans have to re-join their civilian world.

The new features developed at the code bash and offered through the Warrior Gateway are:  

• A search widget for websites;
• A Facebook login widget;
• An ability to invite contacts from their email accounts; and
• An ability to recognize service providers not within a definite geographic location.

The Warrior Gateway answers the real world needs of returning veterans. Being able to search for providers and use the portal for social media applications allows the veterans to stay plugged in with their contacts in a platform designed to help them reintegrate into their civilian lives.
