Colon Cancer Death Not Reduced by Taking Multi-Vitamins

A new study indicates that colon cancer death is not reduced by taking multi-vitamins.
This is important news, since many cancer survivors include multi-vitamins in their daily routine. Cancer, particularly the treatment of cancer, can cause a person to become permanently disabled and unable to work. This can lead to a need for Social Security disability benefits.

It is believed that between 26% and 77% of cancer patients follow a daily regiment of multi-vitamins in the hopes of combating their cancer.
Yet researchers find that the risk of dying from colorectal cancer is not reduced.

Questionnaires were sent to patients with stage 3 colon cancer. This is where the cancer cells had spread to lymph nodes. Almost half of the patients responded that they were taking multi-vitamins in addition to undergoing chemotherapy.

Unfortunately, this has not led to any significant differences in the survival rate for those suffering from colon cancer. While there isn't a downside to taking these supplements, this study found no discernable benefits when it comes to survival.

One of the most commonly diagnosed types of cancer in the United States is colorectal cancer. The most recent statistics, from the year 2006, show that 70,270 men were diagnosed with colorectal cancer and 68,857 women were diagnosed.

If you suffer from colon cancer or any other serious condition, you may qualify for Social Security disability benefits. Contact a Social Security disability attorney who can help you determine if you are eligible.
