I have always maintained that it takes a special and courageous individual to selflessly give themselves for a cause such as the "war on terror". But I can't help to wonder if some of our troops regret their decision of enlisting in the military once they are forced to deploy to war. I would imagine that there is a population of troops that enlist in the military never expecting to actually go to war, let alone engage in combat. And, I bet there are others who join because of the persuasive tactics of our military’s recruiters or to appease their family. Whatever their reason is for joining, peer pressure, a college education, or loyalty to our country, what if they have a change of heart?
More and more active duty G.I.s have been joining Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW), an organization made up of over 1,200 U.S. veterans who have served since September 11, 2001.
Should our troops be threaten and harrassed by their fellow service memebers because they conscientiously and publicly object to the war? We want to hear from our veterans - register and post a comment today.
