A
heart attack could result in disability. If you are no longer able to work and you suffer from a severe medical condition, Social Security disability benefits may be available.
According to a report in the
New York Times,
a controversial study is claiming that a low salt diet increases the risk of a heart attack and stroke. This is clearly opposite previous studies which have shown that a high salt diet could raise the risk of cardiovascular incident.
Additionally, this new study claims that a low salt diet doesn't help prevent high blood pressure. In fact, researchers say that death from heart disease was more likely when a low sodium diet was followed.
But
officials from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have stated that they believe the study is wrong and the conclusions reached weren't based on valid factors.
Despite the controversy, the findings of this study were published in the May 4 issue of the
Journal of the American Medical Association.
