Daylight Saving Time Increases Risk for Heart Attack

How can one less hour of sleep affect our hearts?

Heart attacks rise six to 10 percent during the first week of Daylight Saving Time (DST) when we spring our clocks forward, according to a study. For many us, especially those who are night owls, DST disrupts our sleep patterns and can make us more suceptible to heart attacks.

The best thing you can do for your heart during DST is: take your time getting adjusted to the new sleep and wake times and pay less attention to the clock on your wall and listen closely to your biological clock.

If your body says it's tired, take heed and get some ZZZ's.
