In a new book titled "The Three Trillion Dollar War" writers Joseph Stiglitz and Linda Bilmes go into detail about how veterans and their families are being short-changed by the Pentagon. The authors bring to light the disparities between the death benefits families of civilian workers receive and those received by families of military personnel. Typically when civilian workers are killed in an environmental accident, their families collect millions of dollars in court settlements, while the families of military service-members only receive $100,000 "death gratuity" plus $400,000 in life insurance.
The writers go on to disclose all of the other hidden costs of the wars on terror. To read the full article, click here.
