In a report from Medline Plus, death rates from mouth and throat cancer are decreasing. When cancer causes an individual to undergo months of treatment and recovery, then long-term disability benefits could be available.
A new study indicates that between the years 1993 and 2007, there has been a decrease specifically amongst men and women between the ages of 25 and 64, who are Caucasian or African American. The amount of education also appears to play some role in this, with those who have less than 12 years of education being at a greater risk.
Another study found that higher death rates existed amongst those who smoke, experience pain, or have a poorer quality of life, when it comes to head and neck cancer.
Results from both of these studies were published in the Archives of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery, November issue.
No matter what type of cancer you may be dealing with, treatment may last for several months. During this time you may be wondering how you will financially care for your family. You could be eligible to receive long-term disability benefits, which will help to offset your lost income.
If you have questions concerning eligibility or what you should do if your claim was denied, then you should speak immediately with a South Florida disability attorney.
Long-term disability benefits may be available to those who have purchased a disability plan from a private insurer or have coverage through an employer. Unfortunately, the insurers don’t make it easy for the disabled to get access to the benefits they deserve.
When a severe medical condition makes it impossible for you to work and you’ve been denied your long-term disability benefits, an attorney from LaVan & Neidenberg, P.A. can help you cut through the red tape and fight for your benefits, no matter where you live in the U.S!
