Detecting Prostate Cancer in Younger Men

Prostate cancer doesn't just affect older men. There are more and more younger men who are getting diagnosed with prostate cancer. It's also been found that many times it is more aggressive in younger patients.

Detecting prostate cancer in younger men is important since early detection can make a significant difference in treatment and recovery.
A new study from the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center shows that early detection can be made with a series of genetic mutations.

This study has shown that genetics and traditional screen methods could be beneficial for young men in predicting how far the cancer has progressed. Since there is a potent genetic component to developing prostate cancer, this gives researchers a good direction as they continue to investigate.

The American Cancer Society reports that 192,280 people will be diagnosed this year with prostate cancer.
Sadly, 27,360 will die from this cancer. A diagnosis of prostate cancer can lead to a person becoming disabled and unable to work. Social Security disability benefits may be necessary if someone is suffering from prostate cancer and cannot remain employed.

If you or someone you love has been diagnosed with prostate cancer or any other serious condition, you may be eligible to receive Social Security disability benefits. Contact a Social Security disability attorney who can help you determine eligibility and assist you in filing a disability claim.
