Dogs on Deployment Care for the Pets of Active-Duty Soldiers

Many military families have had to deal with giving up their family dog when they are transferred to military housing that does not allow animals. Soldiers deployed overseas also often face trouble finding someone to care for their beloved pooch while they are on duty. Luckily, a new non-profit organization, Dogs on Deployment, is helping soldiers make sure that man’s best friend is taken care of while they are away.

The organization connects active military personnel to volunteers who care for their animals, while the soldiers serve our country. The boarder homes are operating nationwide and help military families rest assured that their pet is taken care of either short-term during deployment or long-term until they are in a position to be able to keep animals again.

So far, the organization has enlisted 120 volunteers who will take on the responsibility and more are encouraged to get involved. This can be a wonderful opportunity for a disabled veteran who wants to continue to support their fellow military service members.
