Eligible veterans: increase in mileage reimbursement for travel to VA medical facilities...

Eligible veterans such as those with service-connected disabilities, receiving VA pensions, and/or low incomes qualify for mileage reimbursement when traveling to VA medical facilities.

The current payment rate of 28.5 cents per mile will increase to 41.5 cents per mile. And, beginning on January 9, 2009, the current deductible amounts applied to specific mileage will be reduced to $3 for a one-way trip and $6 for a round trip and capped at $18 per calendar month. (Current rates are $7.77, $15.54, and $46.62, respectively.)

**Deductibles can be waived if they cause a financial hardship to the veteran.
