Fatigues To Fabulous Program Aims to Help Female Veterans

Transitioning from military life to civilian life can bring unique challenges with every new day. Research and studies have shown female veterans have much different experiences retuning go their civilian lives than male veterans, and the reasons for the differences are related to gender as much as they're related to the veterans disability services and other programs made available to them from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

As these differences become better recognized, services available can better address specific needs. Recently a group of female veterans walked the catwalk to bring awareness to their cause, according to Military.com article.

Two groups, Give an Hour and the Society for Women's Health Research sponsored the Fatigues to Fabulous event. Both organizations are non-profit, and both seek to "improve the health of all women through advocacy, education and research."

The event launched what will be a 12-month promotion of the 1.8 million female veterans in this country and the issues they currently face.
