Find Local Centers That Cater to the Disabled

If you are disabled, you probably cannot work at a typical job for forty hours per week. However, that does not mean you cannot work at all. In some states, many people who receive Social Security disability payments work at least some hours per week.

According to Philly.com, centers in some states, like Abilities Center of Southern New Jersey, provide jobs, career training, and education assistance. Like any other employer, such centers often have a waiting list of people who want to work there, except at these centers, the willing workers are disabled.

However, many employers of the disabled claim that they are great workers, largely because of their commitment to the job. Disability payments may pay their bills, but many disabled adults prefer to get out of the house and make extra money. Special centers geared toward those with disabilities can make it easier for such adults to get jobs, or at least a great education.

Despite budget cuts that affect most centers that help the disabled, most are still hugely popular. Some have had to close their doors due to lack of donations or state dollars, but many are thriving because of the need for more people than ever to find a job. In fact, the Abilities Center plans to expand, thanks to money raised recently and more than enough willing and able employees.

If you are interested in working despite your disability, you do have options. Thanks to the Ticket to Work program, you do not have to worry about losing your benefits when you start a new job. If you want more information about the possibilities open to you, contact a lawyer well versed in disability law.

If you or your loved one are suffering from a severe physical or mental disability, you should contact a Social Security Disability lawyer immediately to learn about your rights and determine eligibility.
