March 24, 2011 - More veterans are heading to college following their time in the military. Going through the process of getting into college, however, can be very arduous and time consuming. Various programs are established to help veterans through the process of transitioning from military to civilian life, but few are as successful or praised as the Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) program.
The VUB program is only available to veterans and it is free of charge. It does more than just help veterans transition into the civilian world and college life however. The program also aims to help veterans with essential subjects such as:
Most veterans are non-traditional students and feel much more at ease in classrooms where they are not expected to perform as if they were 18 and freshly graduated from high school. The U.S. Department of Education (DOE) funds the VUB. There are a total of 40 VUB programs across the country and many veterans attribute their success in college to the preparation they were provided through the VUB program.
The program attempts to match the veteran-student with the most appropriate program for them and for which they have the best chance of success. Additionally, the VUB program helps veterans with going through the financial aid process to include help with completing the necessary forms.
Soldiers can return home with a number of conditions, injuries, and aggravated preexisting conditions. If you believe you have a service-connected physical or psychological injury you may be entitled to Veterans’ Disability Compensation.
At LaVan and Neidenberg, we are determined to secure veterans their rightful disability compensation and disability rating. We wrote this book for you! In it you will find valuable tips on how to navigate the claims process and avoid common pitfalls. Request your FREE copy today!
