Got a disability claim in the works? Then, you need to fight for free access to your medical records!

The majority of disability claimants are under extreme financial stress due to their inability to sustain gainful employment. Additionally, many of these individuals have been treated by private doctors and hospitals for several years and continue to seek medical treatment for their disability once every two to three months. Can you imagine the number of medical records a disabled person can accumulate?

A claimant's chances of being approved for disability benefits are only as good as the medical evidence they provide Social Security or VA.

The current Florida statute requires all people to pay up to $1 per page for copying their medical records.

Over the past several years the Law Offices of LaVan & Neidenberg has represented thousands of claimants in their Social Security Disability or Veterans Disability Compensation claim. We cannot describe how frustrating it is to be contacted by a disabled individual who appeared at their hearing, but were denied because they could not afford the necessary medical records to substantiate their disability claim.

Please join our firm in our fight to change this statute. We are suggesting that the statute include a provision that will exempt disabled individuals, thier attorney or advocate, from having to pay for their medical records for the purpose of supporting or appealing a disability claim.
