Group of Fruits and Vegetables Show Decreasing Risks of Stroke

In a report from Health News, one particular color group of fruits and vegetables can significantly help reduce the risk of stroke. Stroke could lead to complications and an inability to work for a prolonged period of time, resulting in the need for long-term disability benefits.

In a study that focused on the 4 color groups and a 10-year stroke risk of more than 20,000 adults, at the beginning none of the participants had any cardiovascular complications.

The 4 color groups consisted of green (such as leafy vegetables or lettuce), red/purple (mostly made up of red vegetables), white (more than 55% were apples and pears), and orange/yellow (most were citrus fruits).

Out of the 4 color groups, only 1 had a significant impact on the risk of stroke. Those in the white category were found to cut the risk of stroke by as much as 52% when consumed in higher qualities, in comparison to those participants who consumed fewer.

Specifically, the study found that for each 25 gram increase of white fruits and vegetables, the reduction was 9%. So if just one apple a day was eaten, this would equate to a 45% reduced risk of stroke.

This is the first study to focus solely on the color of fruits and vegetables. If you would like information on how to appeal a claim that has been denied or for assistance in seeking disability benefits, speak to a Georgia long-term disability lawyer.

Long-term disability benefits may be available to those who have purchased a disability plan from a private insurer or have coverage through an employer. Unfortunately, the insurers don't make it easy for the disabled to get access to the benefits they deserve.

When a severe medical condition makes it impossible for you to work and you've been denied your long-term disability benefits, an attorney from LaVan & Neidenberg, P.A. can help you cut through the red tape and fight for your benefits, no matter where you live in the U.S!
