Heart Attack Victims May Develop Complications from Anemia

According to a report from Health Day, researchers find that heart attack victims may develop complications from anemia. When a heart attack or any other severe medical condition prevents you from working for a period of time, you could be eligible to receive long-term disability benefits.

A study, recently published in the Archives of Internal Medicine, reports that 1 in 5 heart attack patients will develop anemia. This is a result of having too much blood taken for tests.

Anemia can become a serious condition, sometimes lasting for months or longer. It could lead to a diminished quality of life, with patients many times feeling worse after they have left the hospital. It could even increase the risk of death.

Researchers studied records on nearly 18,000 heart attack patients
and found that while their hemoglobin levels had been normal when they were admitted, by the time they left the hospital 20% had developed moderate to severe anemia.

They indicate that not all of these blood tests are necessary and that not only could money be saved, but it may prevent patients from developing anemia.

If you need assistance in applying for disability benefits, then you should speak with a Miami Gardens long-term disability lawyer about your case.

Long-term disability benefits may be available to those who have purchased a disability plan from a private insurer or have coverage through an employer. Unfortunately, the insurers don't make it easy for the disabled to get access to the benefits they deserve.

When a severe medical condition makes it impossible for you to work and you've been denied your long-term disability benefits, an attorney from LaVan & Neidenberg, P.A. can help you cut through the red tape and fight for your benefits, no matter where you live in the U.S!
