Is your heart out of synch?

Syn-chro-ni-za-tion (noun) - to work at the same rate and at the same time. Sounds easy enough...

Not so easy for the millions of Americans that suffer from congestive heart failure (CHF). A condition in which the heart fails to work as pump and circulate blood throughout the body. 

Doctors recently discovered a new component to CHF, called dyssynchrony, which refers to the loss of coordination of the heart's walls during a single heartbeat. Instead of all the walls expanding and contracting together, one of the walls may be delayed or may not contract at all.

Scary, but there is hope...

Dyssynchrony is now the target of a new technology called biventricular pacing.
