January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month

January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month. According to PR Newswire, a campaign is asking women to take a pledge in order to protect themselves and others from what’s considered a preventable disease. If you were diagnosed with cancer and will be unable to work for a period of time, long-term disability benefits may be available.

The Pearl of Wisdom Campaign to Prevent Cervical Cancer has launched a
new initiative, Take the Pearl Pledge, in which they’re encouraging women to schedule an annual gynecological exam. In addition, they’d like to see these women then encourage 5 others to do the same.

The number of pledges they’re looking for is 4,070, which represents the number of women who were estimated to die as a result of cervical cancer in 2009. Worldwide, it’s the second leading cause of cancer in women.

It’s projected that this year in the U.S., there will be more than 11,000 women diagnosed with cervical cancer and more than 4,000 will lose their lives to it; however, experts indicate that women could prevent this potentially deadly form of cancer by getting annual exams, along with taking the HPV vaccination.

If you have questions regarding your eligibility for long-term disability benefits, you should seek help from a Palm Beach County long-term disability lawyer as soon as possible. An attorney may be able to assist you with the claims process.

Long-term disability benefits may be available to those who have purchased a disability plan from a private insurer or have coverage through an employer. Unfortunately, the insurers don’t make it easy for the disabled to get access to the benefits they deserve.

When a severe medical condition makes it impossible for you to work and you’ve been denied your long-term disability benefits, an attorney from LaVan & Neidenberg, P.A. can help you cut through the red tape and fight for your benefits, no matter where you live in the U.S! Contact a Palm Beach County long-term disability lawyer today – 1-888-234-5758.
