September 10, 2010 - Project VisAbility recently donated a new Krankcycle to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Spinal Cord Injury and Disorders Health Care Group (SCI) in Long Beach, CA. The SCI provides specialty care for people with spinal cord injuries by treating every aspect of their patient's lives including:
The SCI doesn't just treat their patients, they focus on long term health and fitness. Many spinal cord injuries end up causing loss of functionality, which is why it is so important for the patient to continue to live a fit and healthy lifestyle. The Krankcycle provides spinal cord injury patients the ability to do this very thing.
Using solely upper body movements, veterans confined to wheelchairs are given the perfect way to work out. Through using the Krankcycle, paralyzed veterans will be able to engage in a cardio workout using only their upper body. While the paralyzed veterans are increasing their cardio fitness, they can build upper body strength, and perhaps most importantly, strengthen their core and thereby adding stabilization to their body.
There are both physical and emotional aspects to recovering from a spinal cord injury. It is important to train both, and being physically fit and confident aids in the emotional aspect of rehabilitation. The Krankcycle allows paralyzed veterans to do this very thing through an engaging and challenging workout.
Soldiers can return home with a number of conditions, injuries, and aggravated preexisting conditions. If you believe you have a service-connected physical or psychological injury you may be entitled to Veterans’ Disability Compensation.
At LaVan and Neidenberg, we are determined to secure veterans their rightful disability compensation and disability rating. We wrote this book for you! In it you will find valuable tips on how to navigate the claims process and avoid common pitfalls. Request your FREE copy today!
