Many Doctors Believe Americans Are Receiving Too Much Healthcare

According to a report from Fox News, nearly half of primary care doctors believe that Americans are receiving too much healthcare. If you're unable to work due to a severe medical condition, you could qualify for long-term disability benefits. Know that your lost income may be offset by these benefits.

The belief comes from the results of a new poll that also reveals more than 25% of doctors believe they are practicing medicine more aggressively than they prefer. Aggressive measures could include greater amounts of prescribing medication diagnosing patients and ordering tests.

Despite the high costs and the apparent belief of doctors that patients are receiving too much healthcare, things continue to spiral downward.

The findings of this recent study also revealed 3 main reasons for the aggressive practice of medicine:

  • fear of medical malpractice lawsuits;
  • not enough time to spend with patients; and
  • performance measures.

There is also concern that some doctors order more tests in order to boost their income.

Healthcare continues to be a hot topic, with more questions being raised on the direction it is going in the United States.
