Miami, Fort Lauderdale, all of South Florida and Nationwide: New Law Extends SSI (Supplement Security Income) Eligibility for Refugees.

Pub. L. No. 110-328 is the law that extends the 7-year SSI eligibility period for refugees, political asylees, and other humanitarian immigrants by two years, for a total of 9 years. The eligibility period begins October 1, 2008 and ends September 30, 2010. 

The extension applies to the refugees and other humanitarian immigrants that meet specific criteria.
