May 26, 2010 - All Major League Baseball (MLB) players will wear hats donning stars and stripes this Memorial Day. 100% of the proceeds received from selling these hats will be donated to the apolitical program, Welcome Back Veterans. For every hat bought on the MLB website, MLB will donate $1 to the program. This is the 3rd year MLB has raised funds and worked with the organization.
Since 2008 the coupling of MLB and Welcome Back Veterans has been able to award grants totaling $8.3 million to 30 non-profit agencies. These agencies focus on those needs most important to veterans, such as mental health and job assistance.
Welcome Back Veterans is a project founded under MLB charities, the McCormick Foundation, the Entertainment Industry Foundation, and a civilian group headed up by Fred Wilpon, the Mets Chairman. The McCormick Foundation matches every dollar donated by MLB to do everything possible to help veterans successfully return to their civilian lives.
Welcome Back Veterans works with businesses to create jobs for veterans returning from military service. Additionally, Cornell University, The University of Michigan, and Stanford University have all been working together to design a program aimed at both returning veterans and their families. Once implemented, the program will work to help veterans evade many of the mental health issues currently affecting many veterans following combat tours.
Soldiers can return home with a number of conditions, injuries, and aggravated preexisting conditions. If you believe you have a service-connected physical or psychological injury you may be entitled to Veterans’ Disability Compensation.
At LaVan and Neidenberg, we are determined to secure veterans their rightful disability compensation and disability rating. We wrote this book for you! In it you will find valuable tips on how to navigate the claims process and avoid common pitfalls. Request your FREE copy today!
