Heart conditions can cause individuals to seek long-term disability benefits while they undergo treatment or recovery. If you suffer from a severe heart condition that inhibits your ability to work, you may qualify for disability benefits.
Good news for people who like to indulge in a sweet treat now and then, but also are focused on maintaining good heart health. A new study has shown that moderate chocolate consumption may help the heart. A study of 31,823 Swedish women found that heart failure was reduced when eating dark chocolate.
Women who ate 1 to 3 servings of dark chocolate every month had a 26% reduction in the risk of heart failure, while those who ate 1 to 2 servings every week had a 32% reduction of heart failure.
How chocolate helps the heart is less understood. It is believed that chocolate possibly lowers blood pressure. Other studies that have been done found that flavonoids, which are found in cocoa, can reduce inflammation.
Of course, the other side of the issue is that if too much chocolate is eaten it can lead to weight gain. Being overweight can then contribute to heart problems. Both sides of the chocolate issue should be taken into consideration and certainly, you should consult your doctor before enacting any changes in your diet, particularly if you are diabetic or on a restricted diet of any sort.
If you have been diagnosed with a heart condition or any other severe condition that leaves you unable to work, you should contact a long-term disability lawyer. They can help determine if you qualify for long-term disability benefits.
