Multiple Sclerosis

Individuals who suffer from Multiple Sclerosis (MS) face many challenges in their day-to-day lives, including trouble controlling small movements, difficultly with walking and fatigue. These health problems can make it challenging for patients with MS to hold steady employment.

If you have been diagnosed with MS and are struggling to maintain employment, or are faced with high medical bills and healthcare costs, you might be in need of additional financial support, such as Social Security disability benefits.

MS is an auto-immune disease that affects the central nervous system. Many of the symptoms of MS can place limitations on how a person moves and feels. Some of the symptoms of MS include:

  • Pain in extremities
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle weakness
  • Tremors, shaking
  • Deterioration of the muscles
  • Change or loss of coordination
  • Shorter attention span
  • Memory loss
  • Vertigo
  • Vision

Because MS is considered a disability, you might qualify for receiving a form of Social Security disability benefits. The process of obtaining either Social Security Disability or Supplemental Security Income benefits can be complicated and confusing. Individuals who suffer from disabilities, such as MS, and are in desperate need of SSI or SSDI may find that their claims are denied.

If you or your loved is suffering from a severe physical or mental disability, you should contact a Social Security Disability lawyer immediately to learn about your rights and determine eligibility. The process of securing Social Security Disability and/or Supplemental Security Income benefits can be difficult and overwhelming. Don't go it alone! The attorneys at LaVan & Neidenberg, located in Atlanta, Georgia, understand the inner workings of the Social Security Administration and will help you navigate the system.
