March 17, 2011 - A government contract worth millions of dollars will create hundreds of jobs at La Crosse headquarters in Wisconsin. Those jobs, however, will affect veterans and their disability claims in over 30 states. Logistics Health, Inc (LHI) will make $119.5 million over the first 12 months and could make up to $634.5 million over 5 years.
LHI will be contractually obligated to execute and complete clinical disability exams to veterans in 31 states. These exams will supplement the tests the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) currently performs on veterans filing disability claims in the hopes the disability claims process is sped up. This change aims to provide veterans with their compensation checks quicker than they would receive them under current VA procedures. LHI is not new to this area in that they already provide all medical services to military personnel throughout the span of their career through the Department of Defense (DoD).
LHI's performs many services for the military. They perform pre-enlistment physicals and screen military applicants through their Home Town Physicals program. They also provide pre-deployment screenings through the Reserve Health Readiness program and post-deployment screenings through their Post Deployment Health Reassessment Program.
LHI's clinical disability exams will hopefully speed up the disability claims process for hundreds if not thousands of veterans. Florida is one of the 31 states covered in LHI's new contract.
Soldiers can return home with a number of conditions, injuries, and aggravated preexisting conditions. If you believe you have a service-connected physical or psychological injury you may be entitled to Veterans’ Disability Compensation.
