New VA Call Center Opening In Las Vegas

November 22, 2010 - The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) will create 400 jobs in Southeastern Las Vegas when they open a new call center, which will serve the entire Western United States. Among other businesses actions, the consolidated patient account center will merge billings and collections efforts. Congress ordered the program in hopes it would better Veteran Affairs. The first such call center opened in 2006 and showed the VA could lower their operating costs while producing higher revenues.

The VA signed a 20-year lease, and their landlord will spend $7.6 million in upgrades to the building. The VA will move into the building in the summer of 2011 and will occupy about 50,000 square feet. The call center is only 1 of 7 such centers that will exist across the country.

The West Consolidated Patient Account Center is a VA effort to help expand the CPAC program. The CPAC program has a solid history of allowing the VA to increase their revenue. This call center will allow the VA to add to their continually growing business activities, which in the end means improved services and programs for veterans.

The presence of the call center will also help the local economy by creating jobs in a market where unemployment reached 15% in August. The call center will also add to the VA's emergent existence in the greater Las Vegas area.
