Night Shifts Could Increase Diabetes Risk in Women

According to a report from Health Day, working night shifts could increase the risk of diabetes in women. A new study also shows that the more years that pass in working the night shift, the more the risk of diabetes increased. In the event of developing a serious medical condition, you may be disabled from work in which you could file a long-term disability claim.

Previous studies have linked working the night shift to increased rates of obesity, a risk factor for diabetes. Weight gain was found to be a problem for some of the women followed in this study.

The research adjusted their findings for obesity and found that women who worked the night shift for 3 to 9 years had an increased risk of 6%. Those who worked the night shift for 10 to 19 years had an increased risk of 9% and those who worked for 20 years or longer had an increased risk of 20%.

These are considered to be preliminary findings. The results were presented at the annual American Diabetes Association meeting in San Diego.

Consulting with a Broward County long-term disability attorney should be your next step
if you need assistance in determining eligibility for benefits or if your claim was denied.

Long-term disability benefits may be available to those who have purchased a disability plan from a private insurer or have coverage through an employer. Unfortunately, the insurers don't make it easy for the disabled to get access to the benefits they deserve. When a severe medical condition makes it impossible for you to work and you've been denied your long-term disability benefits, an attorney from LaVan & Neidenberg, P.A. can help you cut through the red tape and fight for your benefits, no matter where you live in the U.S! Contact a South Florida disability attorney today - 1-888-234-5758.
