Non-profit assists homeless veterans

HELP USA, a non-profit organization focused on providing housing and supportive services for the homeless, is reaching out to veterans in the Las Vegas, Nevada area.

HELP USA, in cooperation with the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Housing and Urban Development agency, operates three housing complexes for veterans. The goal is to provide transitional assistance to homeless veterans so that they may become self-sufficient.

HELP USA's housing complexes for homeless veterans in Las Vegas include:

  • St. Vincent HELP, a 120-unit transitional complex for homeless adults with special needs
  • HELP Las Vegas Veterans Apartments, a 75-unit complex where veterans make up ¾ of the residents housed
  • Las Vegas Genesis Apartments, a new 50-unit complex with housing available to disabled veterans who earn 30% of more less than the Area Median Income (AMI)

Approximately one out of every three homeless men are veterans. Disabilities such as post-traumatic stress disorder, brain injuries and sexual abuse trauma are primary contributors to homelessness in veterans.

If you are a veteran, contact LaVan & Neidenberg to get more information on filing a disability claim for compensation for these and other illnesses related to your service.
