January 13, 2011 - The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is building a new medical clinic in Cape Coral, Florida. To date, the clinic is 62% complete and is on schedule to be completed this November. The building itself is finally framed up and starting to look like a VA clinic.
As of this month, workers have:
The current work at the medical clinic is focusing on installing the clinic's elevators, pouring the concrete for their sidewalks, and using top soil to fill all adjoining spots. Construction will soon start on the clinic's interior walls, and windows will be installed.
The clinic comes with a $131 million price tag, will span 220,000 square feet, and will finally open its doors for service next spring. The closest available VA clinic is located in Fort Myers and is only 1/3 of the size of what the Cape Coral clinic will be once completed. The Cape Coral clinic will serve the 202,000 veterans currently living in the south-western part of Florida.
Once its doors are open, the clinic will boast a very impressive staff. The 400 person staff will consist of doctors, nurses, technicians, and various other medical personnel. Additionally, the Cape Coral VA clinic will offer services such as minor surgeries and services for female veterans, neither of which is offered by the Fort Myers clinic.
Soldiers can return home with a number of conditions, injuries, and aggravated preexisting conditions. If you believe you have a service-connected physical or psychological injury you may be entitled to Veterans’ Disability Compensation.
