NSAIDs May Cut Risk of Fatal Colorectal Cancer in Older Women

According to a report from Medline Plus, NSAIDs may cut the risk of colorectal cancer in older women. When cancer becomes disabling, then you may qualify to receive Social Security disability benefits.

A new large study finds that older women, who take NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) like ibuprofen or aspirin, were at a decreased risk of death by about 30% from colorectal cancer in comparison to women who don't take NSAIDs.

This research seems to indicate that postmenopausal women, who take NSAIDs for longer periods of time and on a more consistent basis, fare better; however, the study was not able to determine the cause and effect of this. At this point, they are considered to be preliminary findings, until they are published in a peer-reviewed journal.

Colorectal cancer can lead to an individual being unable to function on a daily basis, which includes working. Those lost wages may be offset by Social Security disability benefits.

To learn if you qualify for disability benefits or to receive assistance
on a claim that has been denied, you should speak with a Plantation Social Security disability lawyer as soon as possible. A lawyer can carefully evaluate the details of your case to determine if you are eligible.
