Omaha Steaks Launches Charity Facebook App Supporting Disabled American Veterans

Build a virtual hamburger and generate a donation to Disabled American Veterans! Omaha Steaks has released a new feature on their Facebook page, the “Omaha Steaks Ultimate Burger Experience”, which connects users to an application that lets them create their own custom burger with over 50 ingredients.

Once a user generates their culinary masterpiece they can select from a list of 4 charities to make a donation. One of the charities, Disabled American Veterans, is a non-profit national organization helping disabled veterans
with benefits, resources, and promoting veteran’s advocacy movements and legislation.

To generate more buzz for the event and get more donations to their chosen charity, users can post their burger to their own Facebook page and encourage their friends to vote for their creation. Omaha Steaks has promised $25,000 in donations to the charity with the most burger votes and a minimum $5,000 to the other charities. Additionally, if their fan base reaches 225,000 before the end of the promotion on February 29, each charity will receive a $25,000 donation.

Many disabled veteran’s advocacy and support organizations rely completely on donations and fundraising to operate. These national and local programs help connect veterans to resources and support necessary to find housing, employment, and obtain veterans disability benefits.
