June 11, 2010 - More veterans are entering the classroom than ever before. While expansive, the Post-9/11 GI Bill limits the types of degrees veterans are able to pay for with the Post-9/11 GI Bill. For the most part, vocational and online classes have not been covered. Veterans can now use the Post-9/11 GI Bill to gain online degrees.
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) recently appointed The American College of Education a Yellow Ribbon school. Yellow Ribbon programs were developed in conjunction with the Post-9/11 GI Bill with the goal of reducing the cost of higher education for veterans.
Many establishments in which veterans can apply their GI Bill also make discounts available to some veterans. The American College of Education not only accepts the GI Bill, it accepts it at a tuition level below the VA's maximum allowance. This means those veterans pursuing their online master's degree in education will be able to do so without paying any additional costs.
The American College of Education's goal is to provide both accredited master's programs and other online programs easily applicable to veterans' lifestyles as well as their budget. Their partnership with the VA makes this goal possible. That classes are offered exclusively online makes them perfect for both veterans and active duty soldiers.
Unlike most master degree programs, the American College of Education does not require entering students to have taken and passed the GRE. Veterans must, however, meet the American College of Education's other admission requirements. Students may also take advantage of a special Military Education Benefit designed to get the most out of their educational benefits.
Soldiers can return home with a number of conditions, injuries, and aggravated preexisting conditions. If you believe you have a service-connected physical or psychological injury you may be entitled to Veterans’ Disability Compensation.
