The personal injury division of our company often reports on the tri-county area's traffic accidents. The reporting of traffic accidents in no way means or implies that we represent any of the individuals involved. However, we do wish those involved a speedy recovery and we send our condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones in an automobile accident.

An accident on I-95 South left one person dead, and four seriously injured last night.
According to reports by local newspapers, the accident on 95 occurred at approximately 5:15 p.m. on Monday night when a Cadillac Escalade sideswiped two cars and then sped off and struck a Ford Expedition positioned in the emergency lane. Witnesses to the accident said that both the Cadillac Escalade and the Ford Expedition burst into flames and the driver of the Expedition was killed. Due to the severity of the fire, identification of the driver may require dental records.
Four people were injured in addition to the driver who was killed in the 95-S accident. All were transported to Memorial Regional, with the most severe accident victim being airlifted to the hospital.
According to the Sun Sentinel, several drivers stopped and tried to rescue victims but had difficulty doing so due to the intensity of the flames from the fiery crash.
The accident occurred on 95's southbound lanes near the Pembroke Road exit.  Florida Highway Patrol closed the highway until almost 10:30p.m. following the crash. The highway was reopened near the Hallandale exit.
Two victims were in critical condition Monday night, and two others were listed in "serious condition."
Our heart goes out to all the injured victims in this tragic accident. We hope and pray that they all recover fully from their injuries.

Drunk driving
statistics show that in Florida, DUI deaths have been steadily rising since 2000. There were 979 deaths in 2000 and 1,169 in 2008. However in an article in NewsJacksonville.com, the story reports that although the number of deaths is rising, the percentage compared to the population growth shows that the number of deaths per 100,000 has held steady at 6.

Additionally, the article goes on to state, "The total number of accidents caused while driving under the influence in Florida remained fairly level between 2000 and last year, fluctuating between about 22,000 and 24,000 each year, according to recently released numbers." That's still an awful lot of accidents, level or not.

Because of these statistics, it is possible you or a loved one living in Florida has been involved in a DUI accident. If this is the case, you may want to hire an experienced personal injury advocate.

Massage therapy
is one of the ways that DUI victims can find relief from the pain sustained from injuries caused by an accident. MedicineNet.com shares that massage therapy is hardly a new thing: "References to massage have been found in ancient writings from many cultures, including those of Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, Japan, China, Egypt, and the Indian subcontinent."

Massage therapy is when pressure is applied to the soft tissues of the body, such as muscles and tendons. WebMD.com confirms that, "Massage can help relax muscles, improve circulation, and ease pain in the soft tissues."

Types of Massage Therapy

There are several different variations of massage therapy. Depending on your injuries from the drunk driving accident, your massage therapist may use one or more of these massage techniques:
  • Swedish Massage
  • Deep Tissue Massage
  • Trigger Point Massage
  • Shiatsu Massage

In addition to seeking therapy to treat your physical injuries, you may want to contact a advocate about your case. If you or your loved one has been injured a Florida DUI accident you should contact a personal injury representative immediately to learn about your rights and determine liability.

One of the first steps after you have learned of your loved one's passing because of a drunk driving accident is to determine where the body has been taken. Most of the time this will be to the county morgue; however, if life-saving measures were taken, your loved one may still be at the hospital. You can arrange to have the body delivered or picked up by the funeral home you will be using.

A next step would be to start informing family and friends. Funeral Planning 101 suggests, "Plan what you're going to say before you make the phone call - you can never be sure of how each person will react to news of a death."

If your loved one has been killed in a Florida DUI accident you should contact a personal injury representative immediately to learn about your rights and determine liability.
