Potential New Treatments for Brain Cancer

The diagnosis of brain cancer can be devastating to receive. This type of cancer can lead to not only physical complications but psychological issues as well. It affects the entire family and may leave an individual permanently disabled. Social Security disability benefits may be available if your disability meets the Social Security Administration's guidelines.

Scientists have reported that in comparison to drugs that are injected, nose drops may help treat brain cancer, reducing tumors by almost 1/3rd.
A new form of methotrexate, an anticancer drug, was designed to be administered as nose drops. The initial testing of these nose drops was found to be successful.

Researchers believe this shows promising treatment for what is generally a very difficult type of cancer to treat. Many drugs have difficulty reaching the brain because of a barrier of cells that surround it. However, nose drops were shown to be more effective in getting past the barrier and going directly to the brain.

While this was tested on an animal model, further studies will be done to determine if this will help patients diagnosed with brain cancer.

If your medical condition meets the qualifications for the SSA, including an inability to perform substantial gainful activity and a disability expected to last more than a year or result in death, Social Security disability benefits may be available. Contact a Social Security disability lawyer to learn more about your options for benefits.

My wife is on disability because of her seizures. Recently she was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma brain tumor.
Can this result in extra benefits?
