A new medical study finds that severe psoriasis may be a high risk factor for heart disease, a debilitating disease that can lead to such deadly health complications as heart attack or heart failure.
Research shows that inflammatory skin disease, such as psoriasis, can be a precursor for heart disease. Researchers involved in the study urge sufferers of the skin condition to take steps to reduce their risk of heart disease by controlling weight and monitoring high blood pressure.

The study, conducted by the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia, found that severe psoriasis also increased the risk of death from stroke.
