Radiation Overdoses Can Cause Serious Health Problems

Social Security disability benefits are often needed when someone has been diagnosed with a severe condition. Many times patients receive a diagnosis through a CT scan. Unfortunately, radiation overdoses from these scans can cause some serious health problems.

The FDA is conducting an investigation into numerous complaints of patients becoming physically and emotionally ill after having a CT scan.

Although the FDA has already been investigating these incidences of radiation overdoses for 10 months, they have yet to come up with any conclusive findings as to why this is happening.

Although many complaints appear to be "minor," such as hair loss and headaches, there have been other more serious complaints being made such as memory loss and confusion. Experts also say that radiation overdose could potentially lead to brain damage or cancer.

The only thing that has been uncovered in this investigation is that more than 400 patients have received high amounts of radiation doses at 8 different hospitals. Six of those hospitals were all in the state of California. It is believed that as the investigation continues, the numbers will rise.

If you have been diagnosed with a severe mental or physical disability, you may qualify for Social Security disability benefits. Contact a Social Security disability attorney who can help determine eligibility.
