Reboot Program Helps Veterans Focus on Finding Civilian Employment

Pentagon cutbacks mean even more veterans and veterans with disabilities are out in the civilian world looking for new employment. Efforts are being made like never before to ensure the military doesn't put today's veterans in the same unfortunate spot in which Vietnam veterans were placed, according to an article in Sign On San Diego.

Readjusting and transitioning to civilian life is something many veterans need help completing. That help is being offered from not only government agencies, but private sector companies as well; however, it's an uphill battle as the unemployment rates among veterans is almost a full percentage higher than the national average.

Reboot is a non-profit group founded by veterans and attempting to correct this problem by introducing the "reverse boot camp"
that's offered to soldiers leaving their respective branch of the military. The idea is to program the soldiers to be victorious in the civilian world just as they were programmed to be victorious in the military.

Reboot lasts 3 weeks, and helps soldiers find areas in which they're passionate
so they can then look for civilian employment opportunities. The course provides soldiers' help with not only looking for employment, but with interviews as well.

Donations have been able to cover the $2,500 cost for every participant so far.
The program was recently scouted by the Office of Management and Budget's Performance Improvement Council to determine if it can be used on a wider scale and what makes the program so effective.
