In a report from Medline Plus, new research finds that multiple sclerosis (MS) is not caused by a blood vessel condition. If you have been diagnosed with MS or any other severe medical condition that prevents you from working, then you could be eligible to receive Social Security disability benefits.
Prior research has suggested that a blood vessel condition, chronic cerebrospinal venous insufficiency (CCSVI) could be a cause of MS. Since there is no supporting evidence to this, researchers don't believe that patients should opt for surgery that opens up their blood vessels.
However, other researchers continue to believe that there is a link, making the conflict all the more confusing to patients. Those with MS are advised to consult with their own doctors to discuss what the best possible treatment plan is for them.
