November 19, 2010 - The Sebring Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Community-Based Outpatient Clinic opened its doors in December of 2004. Currently the building is approximately 5,000 square feet. Earlier this year the VA sought a new 5,000 - 5,700 square foot home for the outpatient clinic, but never made a move.
Once again the clinic is looking to move into a larger space so they can expand the services they currently offer veterans. The plans for the new clinic require at least a 9,000 but not to exceed 9,500 square foot environment. The current version of the clinic offers both primary care and mental health services.
Additional services the new Sebring VA clinic may offer include:
In 2008 the clinic saw 2,800 veterans resulting in 17,000 outpatient visits. In 2009, those numbers jumped to 3,000 and 22,000, respectively. The need for more space is going to continue to grow and the move will have to be made eventually-especially if the clinic plans on offering more services.
It is possible the clinic could move into the empty space in northern end of the Towne Square shopping center previously occupied by the State. The downtown location would be a seemingly ideal location as the space appears to fit the clinic's requirements. Responses were due in the beginning of November, so hopefully a decision will be made soon.
